Elect new committee and make walking programme for first half of 2010

We are a group of friends who love walking in the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and other local areas.

Our present ages range between 50 and 70 (approximately).

Anyone interested in joining us is more than welcome to meet us on Morecambe Promenade, opposite the junction with Lansdowne Road, near the high rise block of flats called Lakeland House, at 9am on alternate Sunday mornings.

The walking programme can be found on this site. This year, 2009, we are giving members the opportunity to complete a long distance walk in 7 stages. As a trial, for ease and convenience, we are attempting the completion of the Ribble Way, some 72 miles from Longton, at its estuary, to Gavel Gap, its source high in the Penines of North Yorkshire.

We travel to the walk starting points in our own vehicles which we share, giving the driver £4 towards his petrol costs. We have a varied social life including Club dinners at Christmas and other occasions, BBQ's at members houses, we form teams at pub quizes and we organize walking holidays within the UK and in Europe.

Hi could you tell me if your easy walks are really easy? I would love to join a walking group as walking alone holds no appeal to me, however I have dodgy knees which limit my ability to decend unstable paths or ways!
